Charlie Brown is depressed and he can’t figure out why! It’s Christmas after-all but to Charlie Brown, everything seems so commercial and fake. Through friendship, community, and the sweetest tree, he learns, along with his trusted crew (Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of the Peanuts characters), the true meaning of the holiday.
This world beautifully comes to life in “A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage” at the beautiful Chappaqua Performing Arts Center from now until December 19th, and then at the The Palladium Times Square from December 21 – 24th.
Written by by Charles M. Schulz, based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson, and adapted for the stage adaptation by Eric Schaeffer, a new generation will enjoy seeing the magical world of Charlie Brown comes to life with a talented cast of actors and musicians who embody the sweetness from the Peanuts world. I loved seeing how they transformed into these characters, particularly Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, and Lucy. This was seen through their acting, movements, and awesome wardrobe. Families will love seeing the classic Charlie Brown tree make a sweet appearance as well as Snoopy’s blinged out dog house, and of course enjoy holiday songs from the classic Vince Guaraldi musical score and dancing from the talented and energetic cast.
My daughters and loved this heartwarming show, where, along with Charlie Brown, we all re-learned the true meaning of the holiday.
After the final bow, the show crescendos into a celebration of song as the audience is invited to join the Peanuts gang in singing traditional Christmas songs and carols.
