There are tons of events going on in NYC this winter in celebration of the holidays. We are excited to share some of the offerings with updates happening all month long.
Dec 5 | Central Park Dance’s The Nutcracker at The Capitol Theatre
Celebrating their 40th Anniversary, Central Park Dance will return to The Capitol Theatre with its annual production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Sunday December 5 at 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Join Clara on her wild journey through a blizzard of ballerinas into a Land of Sweets filled with colorful characters and pure holiday magic. This beloved classic features over 100 dancers from Central Park Dance and surrounding Westchester communities. Join us for this timeless tale.
With more than 100 students from the school, professional dancers and young dancers from the surrounding Westchester and Connecticut communities, audiences have two chances (at 12:30pm and 5:00pm) to enjoy this timeless tale following a digital production with a smaller cast due to COVID limitations last year.
Dec 9-31 | Everett Bradley’s Holidelic at The Lucille Lortel Theatre
GRAMMY-nominated rock percussionist Everett Bradley has worked with everyone from Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Bon Jovi, Hall & Oates and Carly Simon to David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Quincy Jones and Bobby McFerrin.
He just announced the return of his beloved holiday funk revue Holidelic, where he plays the role of Papadelic, Funk’s Father Christmas — an amalgamation of George Clinton and Santa Claus — with holiday-themed funk songs. The show debuted in 2002 after Bradley released a holiday album called Toy: “After 9/11, I felt like we all needed to heal, and the way I was going to do that was by writing Christmas songs,” he explains.
December 14 | José James at City Winery
José James takes a fresh spin on holiday music while honoring pop stars of the 1950s with his first Christmas album, “Merry Christmas” and you can hear this live at City Winery on December 14th.
Combining the classic jazz-crooner elegance of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole with the earthy sophistication of soul legends Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway, José will delight listeners with a soulful little Christmas featuring his signature new-jack jazz and R&B for a beautiful way to kick off the holiday season.
