Brooklyn's Michael Hearst Releases New Album & Book, Songs for Unconventional Vehicles

Exciting music news! On May 14th, Brooklyn author, composer and dad Michael Hearst (formerly of One Ring Zero) will be releasing a new album,Songs For Unconventional Vehicles” as a companion to Hearst’s children’s book Unconventional Vehicles.

The full-length album, comprised of 47 songs varying in lengths between 2.5 minutes and 17 seconds, features a collection of miniature songs about strange cars, trains, planes, submersibles, dirigibles, and rockets — featuring vehicles like underwater battery-powered scooters, solar-powered race cars, pizza delivery drones, and a hot-air balloon shaped like the Cathedral of Saint Gall.

The album is also packed with catchy melodies and facts, showcasing an assembly of guest vocalists including Olivier Conan (Chicha Libre), Tanya Donelly (Belly, Throwing Muses), Neil Gaiman, Rachelle Garniez, Claudia Gonson (The Magnetic Fields), Greta Gertler Gold, Darren Hanlon, Bill Janovitz (Buffalo Tom), Clare Muldaur, and Syd Straw (The Golden Palominos).

To celebrate the release of the album, there will be two events — one in person on May 15th with a full band at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park presented by Barbès and online on May 22, a solo show hosted by the New York Transit Museum.

You can check out a few singles, available now with the pre-order.
