Westchester Winter Wonderland: What to Expect

This evening the girls and I ventured to Valhalla to check out the Westchester Winter Wonderland.  Bundle up in multiple layers, they were psyched to check out the Wonderland and the copious amount of hot chocolate that would follow.

Upon arrival at Kenico Dam Plaza, a Westchester County park, there was easy (and free!) parking that took us steps away from the main events. Greeted by a row of candy canes, we made decided to check out the tented circus for the upcoming show (they have shows at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 on Weekdays and Sundays and 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 on Fridays and Saturdays). We found front row seats in the heated tent as the ringmaster took centerstage doing a variety of circus tricks has interacted with the audience and got us all laughing. The girls and I loved this mini show were we saw jugglers, acrobatics, and more. My oldest daughter was even pulled up on the stage as a part of a ring toss demo that she really enjoyed.

After that we checked some outdoor rides, which you can enjoy as many times as you like with your ticket, like the crazy, windy Wonderland Express and Holly Jolly Caterpillar. There was also a fun musical light show that was illuminated with different colored lights at the change of every new holiday song. Another awesome feature of the Westechester Winter Wonderland was the ice skating rink, which with your admission ticket, includes unlimited ice skating and skate rentals. With my two-year-old (and those freezing temps) that wasn’t part of our plan but it’s a great option (and value) for families. You can also visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Santa Experience (another heated area) where we had no wait as the girls went up to the big guy and told him what they would like for the holidays.

And you won’t go hungry at the wonderland. Throughout the space there’s also ample opportunities to both shop and eat. Situated on their ‘Main Street,’ you’ll find a variety of local food trucks serving BBQ, pizza, waffles, Greek food, donuts, etc that you take home or enjoy in the heated food tent.

A great value for families, you can really experience tons of attractions and activities in one night from seeing a cool circus, experiencing unlimited rides, ice skating, visiting Santa Claus, seeing holiday lights, and more. Bundle up and enjoy!

Admission to the Westchester Winter Wonderland is $15 per person; ages 5 and under are free.
